SASSARI
Sassari, situated in the north of Sardinia, is a lively modern city with an attractive historic centre and a strong cultural heritage.
For more information on Sassari, visit:
www.italia.it/en/discover-italy/sardinia/sassari.html
ASINARA
The island of Asinara has a beautiful indented coastline and an unusual history. Human presence on the island dates back to the Neolithic Age. Now uninhabited, the island has served as a quarantine centre, an imprisonment camp during World War I, and more recently, as a top security prison. This century-long isolation has contributed to the conservation of a variety of natural habitats as well as to its unique cultural heritage.
