Further to - and complimentary with - my earlier post on a conference centred on the Kaz Mountains, Mt Ida, source of the Cybele earth-goddess cult . This September there is a conference on changing landscapes at Lesbos, which lies opposite Mt Ida

The 2nd International Symposium on Kaz Mountains and Edremit

I had this conference details sent to me and thought it worthwhile passing them on....

The second International Symposium on Kaz Mountains (Mount Ida) and Edremit - Human-Environment Interactions” will be held in Edremit-Turkey, on 3rd to 5th May, 2013. This symposium is organized to bring together academic scientists, researchers from different countries to meet and do discuss current research. The Symposium is broad in scientific scope, are open to all academicians those interested in environment, ecology, mountain ecosystems, biology, human-environment interactions, geography, agriculture, culture, and related subjects.

Under classical Greece and Rome, and probably for many years before,  Turkish Mount Ida was dedicated to the worship of Cybele .

All accepted submissions will be published in the Symposium Proceedings with an ISBN number.

Authors of selected papers will be invited to extend the paper for possible publication in edited international journal or book.

The organizing committee will provide accommodation support during the symposium for the authors of the selected full papers.

The abstract submission deadline has been extended until, 30 November 2012

Abstracts of no more than 400 words should be submitted to: recepefe@hotmail.com  

The language of the symposium will be English and Turkish.
