But now - a very handy version has been made fopr mobile phones - so you can check on an area when you visit it http://phone.booth.lse.ac.uk/ . This has advantages anyway of an easy to use "slider" to fade from historic map to modern...
...from which I learnt that my 19th-c neighbours were "Poor 18s to 21s for a moderate family" - According to the National Archives currency converter 21s = £62.88 pw today. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/currency/default2.asp
