The Gallery, "... are delighted to announce the new appointments of artist Laura Oldfield Ford and designer Fabien Cappello to the Stanley Picker Fellowship programme, both of whom will be developing projects that consider, each in distinct ways, the immediate and wider geographic location of the Stanley Picker Gallery.

Laura Oldfield Ford will be undertaking an investigation into the sociogeography of the suburbs, specifically within the old boundaries of the county of Surrey. Examining marginal political and counter-cultural groups in an attempt to ascertain the effects of landscape on the collective psyche, she describes her working practice as “a process of burrowing under the ‘heritage version’ of England to uncover the repressed psyche of the land”. Author of Savage Messiah (2011), Oldfield Ford is currently exhibiting in The Hecklers, New Art Gallery Walsall (until 22 Sep 2013) and will be showing in Masters of Drawing at the V&A Museum in 2014."
