To celebrate the 400th anniversary of the New River London Wildlife Trust has teamed up Thames Water to run a series of walks and events that will help us all get up close to the wildlife and learn more about the history of the New River. Come and join us on these exciting events over the next year and get unique access to the New River and the East Reservoir, a Metropolitan Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) that has been closed off since it was built in 1833.
Upcoming events:
New River Bat Walk
Date: 8th September
Time: 8pm to 9pm
Venue: meet outside the Castle Climbing Centre, Green Lanes London N4 2HA
Come and find out about the bats that live along the new river and stoke Newington reservoirs. You will be able to see and hear them using bat detectors.
New River Wildlife Picnic
Date: 22nd September
Time: 12pm -5pm
Venue: Stoke Newington East Reservoir Community Garden, Newton Close N4 2RH
Come and join us on the banks of the new river at east reservoir community garden. Bring a picnic, sit under the chestnut trees and spend some quiet time amongst the wildlife whilst we celebrate the 400th anniversary of the New River.
New River mini-beast walk
Date: 13th October
Time: 2pm-3pm
Venue: Meet outside the Castle Climbing Centre, Green Lanes London N4 2HA
Come and find out about the insects that live along the New River and around Stoke Newington East reservoir.
